Historic Retail District
On the National Register of Historic Places, the area is home to architecturally, culturally and historically significant retail buildings constructed in the eight decades following the Chicago Fire of 1871. State Street became a shopping destination during the 1900s and is referred to in the song "Chicago", sung by Frank Sinatra where Frank refers it to "State Street, that Great Street."

Destination Spot For Shoppers
Three of the original seven mammoth department stores on State Street (known as the "Seven Sisters") are on the busy intersection of State and Madison. The new Macy’s (formerly Marshall Fields), just two blocks away, is the second largest department store in the world, occupying an entire city block of 1.4 million sq. ft. A destination spot for shoppers everywhere, State Street draws millions of shoppers annually to its grand "retail palaces" and surrounding shopping opportunities with an annual retail sales volume approaching $1 billion.

Pedestrians Galore
Next to the financial district, just six blocks from the Sears Tower, our properties at State Street couldn't be more centrally located to the area's 650,000 workers, 240,000 residents and 37,000 students. Additionally, many more tourists and visitors are brought to State Street's revived theater district great museums and cultural centers. Living up to the title of "world's busiest corner," approximately 70,000 people per day come to the intersection of State and Madison as well as the intersection of State and Monroe, providing excellent visibility for 133 South State Street and State Street I & II.

Within a one mile radius of State Street I & II and 133 State Street, 59.9% of the residents have a bachelor's degree or higher, with an average household income of $98,841.

Hotels
Great shopping, historic landmarks, theaters and museums bring visitors to many hotels providing 28,000 rooms within a half-mile radius of State Street. The Palmer House Hilton, a half block away, recently completed a $100 million renovation.

Colleges
Numerous schools bring 60,000 students to the area. Located less than eight blocks from The Gallery are DePaul University, Roosevelt University, Columbia College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Public Transportation Hub
In the heart of "The Loop," with buses and trains in every direction as well as two subway lines, all routes lead to State Street.

Cultural Institutions
Among the museums of Chicago, the Chicago Art Institute with its 1.3 million annual visitors creates significant pedestrian traffic in the State Street area. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Symphony Center is located half a block east of the properties and draws 200,000 annual visitors. The Field Museum houses an extensive collection of Native American artifacts, and the Museum of Science and Industry offers educational exhibits of interest to people of all ages.

Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile
The portion of Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River has developed into a world class shopping mecca. To the east a commercial wharf complex has been redeveloped as a tourist attraction with exhibition space, food venues, a Shakespearean Theater complex and two museums.

Millennium Park
To the south of the Chicago River and slightly east of the retail development, along Michigan Avenue is the $475 million Millennium Park development. The parks 24 acres of landscaped civic space include the work of world famous architects and artists in addition to landscape designs of varying character.

Theatres and Nightlife
The central core of Chicago is the location of several theaters of national stature including the Shubert Theatre, the Oriental Theatre, the Cadillac and Chicago Theatres. The jazz and blues traditions live on with the dedicated venues of the House of Blues and Buddy Guys Legends.
